SAN RAMON, CA - April 15, 2009 - "Strategies for Success in a Recession" will be highlighted at the Solano County Manufacturing Summit on Tuesday, May 5th at 7:15 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn located in Fairfield, California.  The Summit will be presented by the Corporation for Manufacturing Excellence (Manex), a premiere Bay Area consulting firm that specializes in strategy, people, process and performance for the manufacturing industry.

“This is an excellent opportunity for manufacturers, distributors and their supply chains to gain insight from an organization with a track record of success in their field,” Michael Ammann, President of Solano Economic Development Corporation commented. Curt Johnston, Economic Development Division Manager with the City of Fairfield, also voiced his endorsement of the Manufacturing Summit, saying “…this is a time when companies need to not only survive, but also must do the planning that will allow them to emerge stronger as the recession ends. Manex has a track record of success. The firm has the resources to bring this important Summit to Solano County and provide insight to the manufacturing industry.”

Manex, with support from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, is bringing high level summits to Bay Area communities. Manex recently presented a manufacturing summit in Sonoma County, which was attended by over 120 industry representatives. Brent Meyers, President and CEO of Manex said: “Our goal is to help the manufacturing industry go beyond incremental improvements and create sources of lasting competitive advantage.”

Charles Corbett, Ph.D., Professor of Operations and Environmental Management at the UCLA Anderson School of Management will discuss the basic strategies for managing small business operations.  Manex will share its strategies for manufacturers to grow profitability, and Moss Adams LLP will review R&D tax credit and other financial strategies.
