The Coherent global leadership team engaged Manex to help institute Lean as part of the company's best practices by evaluating key opportunities of improvement within the Santa Clara facility.
Manex helped the global operations leadership team in Santa Clara implement operational process improvements using a systematic, holistic Lean methodology. A three-phased approach was used to focus on rapid implementation based on near-term opportunities.
- Phase I: Assess (Value Stream Map).
- Phase II: Design (Implementation Roadmap).
- Phase III: Implement (Kaizen Implementation).
The comprehensive Value Stream Mapping and roadmap of the Santa Clara operation have led to the following results:
- Improved collaboration with Material Management, Planning, and Manufacturing.
- Reduced lead time in the RLS value stream from 9 days to 7 days (22% improvement).
- Established flow manufacturing through enhanced material planning, better supplier communication, and consolidation of work areas.
