Manex and CalRecycle Host Tire-Derived Innovation Workshop

SACRAMENTO CONVENTION CENTER - April 12, 2011 -  Sponsored by CalRecycle, California’s leading authority on recycling, waste reduction, and product reuse, this innovative workshop provided an understanding of available resources and funding for the use of “crumb rubber,” rubber recycled from scrap tires. Participants included experts in current Tire-Derived Products (TDPs) and their applications, along with those not familiar with TDPs or existing markets. During this half-day think tank session, information was shared on existing applications, markets, technical aspects and characteristics of TDPs. Participants brainstormed ideas for new TDP applications and grouped the ideas into categories. A discussion was held on which categories could be serviced by existing product manufacturers and which areas require the development of completely new products. Included in the discussion were the results of products in these categories that have been considered previously.
